The starting wage (salary).

Applications are being accepted for general worker jobs in technical services at the Skukuza camp: waste management facility in the Kruger National Park. Water management reports to the Superintendent.

The successful candidate’s main performance areas would include the following:

 

Key Performance Indicators

 

Carry out obligations in accordance with the supervisor’s schedule and the demands of the operations. Sorting and separating recyclables from non-recyclables, as well as burning Crush recyclables and bailing them out.

All recyclables should be stored in specified places according to their category (glass, plastic, boxes, and tins). Cleaning the building and picking up trash surrounding the facility. Maintain a clean environment.

Any problem animals or maintenance concerns should be reported to the supervisor.

 

Requirements

The following criteria are typical of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary for the job:

Diploma from the 12th grade. Physical fitness. Working in a national park requires some basic knowledge.

Occupation with knowledge of OHS. Ability to listen and comprehend a vocally delivered message.

Experience in garbage handling/management will be an asset.

GENERAL WORKER – EASTERN BORGER FENCE

Paterson Grading: A1

There are challenging opportunities available for General Workers in the Road Maintenance divisions.

Kruger National Park Technical Services The following are the important performance areas of the successful candidates, as reported to the supervisor (eastern Border Fence):

Key Performance Areas.

Perform semi-skilled tasks relating to all sorts of Eastern Border Fence maintenance and installation. Maintain the Eastern Border Fence throughout the Park on a regular basis.

Performing technical duties within the scope of the candidate’s ability.
Assisting with additional ad hoc responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Requirements.

The following criteria are typical of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary for the job:

-Grade 12 certificate.

-Physical well-being.

-Good understanding of instruments, handling, and aftercare.

-Capability to assist with fence maintenance and installation.

-Occupation Safety and Health (OSHA) Fundamentals.

-Experience working in a national park.

-Capability to listen to and objectively comprehend a vocally delivered message.

GENERAL WORKER – ROADS MAINTENANCE

A difficult post is available for a General Worker in the Road Maintenance branch of the Technical Services Kruger National Park, reporting to the supervisor (Water for Game).

The following are the main performance areas of the successful candidate:

-Perform semi-skilled work relating to all sorts of road, fence, dam, and water infrastructure maintenance and building.

-Routine maintenance of Water for Game infrastructure throughout the park, such as reservoirs, troughs, earth, and concrete dams.

-Performing technical duties within the scope of the candidate’s ability.

-Assisting with additional ad hoc activities as needed, but reporting to supervisor/management.

 

Requirements

The following criteria represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary for the job:

-Grade 10 is required; a grade 12 certificate will be an extra bonus.

-Physical well-being.

-Excellent understanding of tool usage and upkeep.

-Ability to help with the upkeep and construction of game infrastructures like roads, fences, dams, and water.

-Knowledge of how to install block paving surfacing will be an advantage.

-Basic OHS knowledge.

-Experience working in a national park.
