Hollywoodbets has an exciting opportunity available for a Payroll Supervisor (Tax and Finance Compliance) within the Payroll Department to be based in our Team Support Office in Umhlanga, Durban.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the tax and revenue authority compliance, process compliance, and administration of the company’s payroll systems, and payroll officer, administrator, and clerk team whilst maintaining strict confidentiality standards. Responsible for timely and accurate delivery of payroll and related client service, including recordkeeping and reporting.
Provides accounting and project management support to Finance.
Minimum Requirements:
- Payroll qualification
- 5 years in a payroll-related position
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage onboarding and maintenance of Africa payroll companies on the payroll software system to ensure effective, complete, and timeous payrolls.
Ensure statutory compliance:
Ensuring correct and timeous submission of SARS and African country-specific tax and statutory returns.
Ensure legislative compliance for South Africa and African payrolls.
Ensure timeous statutory registration of all entities in liaison with the Payroll Supervisor (Statutory Compliance).
Ensure payroll software is up to date and tax compliant.
Africa and Finance Team:
Overseeing the payroll officers, administrators, and reconciliation clerk.
Ensure effective collaboration and flow of information between the team members, including the other teams and team members within the payroll department.
Responsible for overseeing, monitoring, supervising, and discipline, including leave approval.
Providing support and query resolution for the team.
Encourage the practice of the companies’ values.
Ensure adherence to procedures, policies, and deadlines.
Providing applicable training (including the whole payroll department) where required.
Reporting and Reconciliation:
Overseeing, reviewing, ing, and checking salary packs, journals, reconciliations, and reports generated by the Africa and Finance payroll team as required.
Overseeing, reviewing, and checking statutory, costing, reconciliations, and reports generated by the Africa and Finance payroll team as required.
Preparation and collation of monthly, annual and ad hoc reports, analysis and reconciliations as required.
Liaison with finance department regarding payroll reconciliations, journals, costing, reports and query resolution.
Banking:
Oversee, check and release salary, external, statutory and ad-hoc payments ensuring correct and timeous payments for payrolls allocated to the Africa and Finance team.
Responsible for all activities related to payroll processing any senior management payrolls as required:
Process payroll and maintain payroll information accurately as required, ensuring all transactions are authorized, recorded, and documented.
This includes checking transactions uploaded by the time and attendance officers and payroll clerks if applicable.
Ensure that salaries (spreadsheet and required documents) are signed off / authorized by the appropriate manager(s).
Ensure that sign off (spreadsheet) balances to the payroll/pay register
Ensure that salaries are correctly and timeously paid and that provident fund, statutory and payroll-related payments (external providers) are paid by the due dates.
Prepare and maintain related payroll records, reports, summaries, and journals.
Stay current and test the Payroll system delivered tax updates/updated payroll functionality changes or new functionalities that are released in the system and communicate these to the department.
Provide support to finance, line managers, and employees with Payroll related concerns and queries.
SARS, statutory, and external providers’ queries resolved.
Performs other and related duties and general admin as required.
Point of contact for Payroll Officers.
Being available to provide assistance and query resolution to payroll capturing issues and being available to assist with training payroll officers where required.
Provide assistance to the Payroll Supervisor – Africa and Finance with reporting, review, reconciliations, statutory compliance, and checks as required.
Process payrolls including African Countries and maintain payroll information accurately as required, ensuring all transactions are authorized, recorded, and documented.
