Metallurgical coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.   In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.

Job Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced Mining Supervisor with a passion for safe production, at our Dawson Mine Operation based in Moura, Queensland.

Reporting to the Mining Superintendent you will be an energetic mining professional who can demonstrate a drive for safety as well as having strong interpersonal and leadership skills. As an experienced supervisor, you will be responsible for managing and leading a large team of operators to ensure operational production targets are met whilst aligning yourself with our burning ambition strategies.  You will effectively plan, be creative and demonstrate breakthrough thinking to coordinate personnel, equipment (including Excavators, Shovels and associated Ancillary equipment), and resources to achieve optimal performance.

Your business acumen and decision-making skills will be used to manage your team and deliver results in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with statutory legislative requirements.

In addition, you will provide technical support, leadership, and coaching to the production team whilst ensuring compliance with site policies and procedures. You will need to have a strong commitment to workplace health and safety and determination for providing coaching and mentoring to an established crew.


To be successful in the role, you will have proven supervisor experience in an open-cut mining operation, demonstrated experience within excavator and shovel operations, and a working knowledge of relevant legislation. You will also hold relevant certifications including S1, S2, S3, and G2, OCE ticket desirable but not mandatory.
